Head of Sales (DACH+) Permanent Marking

We are seeking a Head of Sales for Photon Energy GmbH, which is part of the Hitachi group of companies. Founded in Ottensoos DE 91242, Photon Energy is an innovator in micro-machining and marking with a range of sources, workstations and vision systems. We deploy a wide range of laser technologies including ultra short pulse, Fibre and DPSS, which can deliver outstanding results on a wide variety of materials in a host of markets including Medical, Automotive, Electronics and more.

Key requirements/deliverables:

  • To introduce formalised processes for delivering consistency of sales marketing in the DACH + region, which may include countries outside of Europe.
  • To generate new lead sources and expand the target customer base.
  • Direct and coach the sales team and ensure that each individual employee is motivated to deliver their best performance.
  • Develop and refine effective planning tools and processes.
  • Establish a continuous improvement culture that will lead to improved sales performance, increased task efficiencies and ultimately outstanding customer satisfaction.
  • Identify performance gaps and inefficiencies in exiting processes and implement a LEAN approach to address them.
  • Ensure reports are aligned and consistent with global reporting requirements and core business KPIs.
  • Analyse data on past performance and develop robust forecasting methods to support business planning at manufacturing hubs in Europe and USA.
  • Support the managing director and leadership team by providing budget forecasts, providing briefings and reports.
  • Ensure that the team works cross functionally with piers from other departments and has good links with key stakeholders.
  • Manage pricing strategy for direct and indirect customers.

Qualification & Experience

  • At least 5 years proven experience as a senior manager/leader with who can demonstrate success in leading and motivating commercial and technical department.
  • Experience in organisational change management and demonstrated experience of introducing new operational and working processes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in German and English.
  • Show empathy and the ability to work well with different cultures and can unite a team under a shared vision.
  • Ideally with a background in industrial marking and coding products that deploy vision systems, laser marking and contact marking would be an advantage, though not essential.
  • Experience in managing a team supporting selling through direct and indirect sales channels.

The role Head of Sales will be responsible for leading a team of up to 12 members and is based in 91242 Ottensoos. Some flexible homeworking is negotiable but it is expected that within the first year, team building will be required and so most time will be spend at the office.
